Pick a subject/news story that you are passionate about and do a photo essay on the subject, include, the likes of, repetitive, shooting thru, close ups, wide shots, normal shots. Use the composition that you have learned. Make a slide show using Pro Show Producer. Make images JPEG, 150dpi 5x7.
ROP Commercial Photography started in 1992 at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs, Ca. Over the years, the program has morphed from a "Fine Art" photo class to a full fledge Commercial Photography Class. The concept is to actually teach the students how to create images that they actually can make a living at.
The current instructor, Bob Calkins , a professional photographer who has owned his own studio (www.motherlodephoto.com) since 1976. He also teaches at Sacramento City College. He has been teaching for ROP since 1993
